Support: saves, backups and purchases

Answers to the most common questions about the game. There are no accounts, so you can sort out most things right in the game.

Where is my game saved?

Only on your device: in your browser on the web, or on your phone in the app. There are no accounts and no cloud. If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, the game is deleted too, so keep a backup.

How do I back up my game?

In the game, tap the gear icon (Settings) and choose "Download backup," or "Copy backup code" and save the code somewhere, for example in your notes. The backup also includes codes for purchases made on the web.

How do I move my game to another phone or browser?

On your old device, download a backup or copy the backup code. On the new one, open Settings, choose "Restore from backup," and pick the file or paste the code. Note: restoring replaces any game already on the new device.

How do I restore purchased looks?

In the app, open Settings → "Looks & support" and tap "Restore purchases." Your purchases load from your App Store or Google Play account, so they work after reinstalling or on a new phone signed in to the same account.

How do I request a refund?

In-app purchases are handled by Apple or Google, and we don't have access to payments. On iPhone, follow Apple's instructions (reportaproblem.apple.com); on Android, follow the Google Play refund policy. Links are below.

What do other players see in Neighbors?

Only if you turn on "Show my greenhouse": a randomly drawn name, your greenhouse and mascot looks, your herbarium, and your leaf and coin counts. No personal data. You can remove it at any time with "Hide and delete."

How do I start over?

In Settings, choose "Delete game and start over." Coins, plants, mothers, and the journal are permanently deleted, so download a backup first if you might want to go back.

The game says my saved data can't be loaded. What now?

The game doesn't overwrite anything. It lets you download the original data (JSON) first and only then start a new game on purpose. Keep the file and send it to us so we can try to recover it.
